About Me

From spreadsheets to squat racks

I’m Jerry Hamada, an ACE-certified personal trainer in Irvine. I left a corporate career to do work I actually love: helping people get stronger, fitter and more confident.

My story

Why I became a coach

I graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in computer science and went straight into the corporate world as an actuarial analyst at Pacific Life. I spent about a year building models and analyzing data. It was good work at a great company, but I wasn’t fulfilled.

The best part of my day was always training: boxing, lifting, getting in the water. In May 2026 I made the switch and started coaching as a personal trainer at Club Studio. I haven’t looked back.

My analytical background shapes how I coach. I break goals into measurable steps, track progress and adjust based on what the numbers (and your body) are telling us. You get the structure of a well-built plan with the energy of a coach who genuinely loves this.

These two photos are eight years apart: years of showing up and training consistently. It’s the same patience and consistency I build into every client’s program.

Approach

How I coach

  • 01

    Measure what matters

We set clear goals and track real numbers (lifts, rounds, splits, how you feel) so progress is never a guess.

  • 02

    Technique first

Whether it’s a deadlift, a jab or a freestyle stroke, good mechanics come before intensity. That keeps you healthy and improving.

  • 03

    Built around your life

Programs fit your schedule, history and goals. No cookie-cutter plans.

  • 04

Make it something you look forward to

Training should be challenging and fun. Consistency comes from enjoying the work.

What I coach

Beyond the weight room

Boxing is my main focus, with Muay Thai, swimming and surfing alongside it. All are available as private sessions.
